Welcome to my little world on the internet. I am excited to share my projects here!

Inspiration in designing and creating this quilt came from April Rhodes Wanderer fabric. Important focus for me in this quilt were highlighting the Serape fabric without it being overwhelming or getting lost. Fussy cutting and creating large flying geese squares helped accomplish this goal.

One of my favorite fabrics in this line is the Sacred Seeds fabric in tigerlily. I think it is obvious from my center square just how much I like this fabric. I envisioned a dark background, and when I found the Kaffe Fassett shot cotton in steel I knew I had a terrific combination. The steel grey is the primary color with soft undertones of gold which compliment the Wanderer line and give the quilt a feeling of warmth even with the grey.

I named this quilt Any Direction for two reasons. The first is simply because of all the arrows pointing in so many directions. The name came to have a secondary meaning when I was mocking it up with some Kona and Amy Butler fabric that I had. The design worked so well with two fabrics, especially one that is a print with some movement and I realized that I would like see the whole thing finished with these sorts of fabrics. So….I bought some Tula Pink and Kona but I haven’t had time to start it yet. Hopefully soon. Happy quilting! ▶︎ ▶︎ ▶︎

I’ve always been a doodler and loved art from an early age. I picked up my first fabric, a pink and white checked gingham, at 9 years old and cross-stitched my name. In 1996, my mom started quilting and her inspiration motivated me to make my first quilt in 1998. I found a pattern in a book from the library, changed the colors to make a Christmas quilt and pieced it together. I even quilted and bound it! I enjoy working with all kinds of fabric mediums and threads. I enjoy sewing with my machine and doing handwork. I get inspiration from my life including people, scenery, patterns and objects around me. Follow me here and on Instagram @lesleystorts.
