Another English paper piecing (EPP) project! Jodi, creative EPP master and owner of Tales of Cloth, has created so many fun and interesting EPP patterns. I have made multiple quilts from Jodi’s patterns. I picked this for a couple of reasons. First, the center block is large, 8 inches, and I thought it would be great way to showcase large pieces of fabrics from my stash. Second, because the block pieces are larger, I felt like the blocks could be made quickly. I’m not sure you can call any EPP project fast – so it’s all relative.

My focal color is orange. I pulled golds, black and grays to complement the orange fabrics. I also realized there are touches of pink/blush in a lot of the orange fabrics. When I pulled black fabrics from my stash, I realized (again) how many of these fabrics I have had for a long time. Some of them look like they are part of Civil War print collections that I acquired many years ago. I’m happy I have them because they seem to have a lot of warmth and work well with the orange and gold palette.

In past EPP projects, I’ve spent a lot of time fussy cutting many small pieces. The Cherish pieces are a little larger but can still be fussy cut if it works for the block. And look at the center hexagon – Wow! What a fantastic block to show off a variety of fabric designer’s art. I’m looking forward to growing this collection of blocks and watching this quilt evolve.
