It has been a few years since I made a fall and halloween themed pincushion batch. After collecting vessels, fabrics and a variety of glass beads, I planned this batch early enough to have it ready at the beginning of fall.

You can find my beaded pin tutorial here. In that post, I give a lot of sources for my beads and pins. This batch was especially fun since the beads and pins literally match one another.

Finding interesting vessels is an enjoyable experience. I find the majority of my pieces through antiquing and thrifting. In the above picture on the left, the brass container is a Pozzoni Complexion Powder gold “puff box”. The box is made of brass and was produced in the early 1900s. It is light in weight and sturdy and the patina provides a lovely finish for a fall inspired pincushion. The pincushions on the right are made from ashtrays! The weight of the glass provides a sturdy base. The best part of these glass pieces is their interesting texture and artistic design.

The pincushion pals even carried a fall theme in the ceramic colors.

The variety of glass and vessels included an elf shoe, a toothpick cauldron as well as clear glass salt cellars. This was an enjoyable batch to create!
