Exploring Kaffe Fassett’s Strawberry Thief Fabric Recolor

read

Have you seen the recolor of Strawberry Thief prints by Kaffe Fassett? The original design was made in 1883 by artist William Morris. The Strawberry Thief has been used in the decorating and fashion industry for decades. The design elements are so good – flowers, leaves, branches, birds, and other nature inspired images. As a longtime fan of colorful fabric, it is fun to see and play with the recolor by Kaffe Fassett and Free Spirit Fabrics. I’m looking forward to creating a big batch of pincushions with this line. Below is a video preview of the fabric and glass I have picked out.

I ended up pulling a lot of glass. Most of the glass is clear. The fabric matched well with a lot of blue glass that I have on hand. Green and yellow glass also work with a few other colors sprinkled in.

At the end of the video, I do a little preview of the match-ups I have started to make. This is going to be a great batch! I was able to get the full line, 32 fabrics, at Sew Much Fun in Lowell, North Carolina.

  1. I’ve been admiring those fabrics, though I don’t plan to do a project with them. They’ll be perfect for your pincushions!

    1. I was excited to have these fabrics in hand and see the recolor. Also, the scale of the prints are larger than I was expecting and that is one reason I like having them in hand. They will work well with fussy cutting for pincushions.
